Species tulip

Thursday 22nd
Weather: Overcast & sunny, not so cold but very windy. It got darker sooner than it has done for the past few days.

Tulipa turkestanica bulbs

Today we worked on bedding in the High Garden, we took out some Symphytum 'Belsay Gold' that had crept in uninvited places - which is a fresh lime green leaved variety. Then we topped up a bed with Tulipa 'Bleeding Heart' - white with vivid red streaks (which I had also put in a pot previously) and offset by the dark blue/ purple 'Blue Aimable.

Then we planted some Tulipa turkestanica in a round bed in the middle of the lawn of the Solar Garden, and in a gravel section beside the house. These are tiny white species tulip that have yellow centres and even their petite bulbs are perfect - a kind of burnished orange with small white escalloped ends.
